Vintage film and advertising posters from 1950’s discovered on London Underground

As big fans of poster design from this era, it was incredibly exciting to stumble upon this recent flickr collection of posters discovered in situ in an unused area of Notting Hill Gate Underground station during maintenance work.

Posters featured range from feature films including stars such as Terry-Thomas and Alec Guinness, as well as more traditional adverts for local newspapers, toothpaste and tourist services, all featuring some fantastic pre-computer design work.

Thankfully London Underground plans to leave these intact as they are in an area of the station inaccessible to the public, which is a shame as personally I would pay to see these in person!
