Tunnels – a great Photography subject

Put in simplest terms, photography is about capturing light, and tunnels are immediately interesting since by their very nature they have little or no natural light and therefore rely on light emitting sources, which typically makes for interesting highlights, shadows, reflections and colours.

Combine that with interesting, often repetitive geometry and even the most simple compositions can look startling.

Mark Broadhead (http://www.flickr.com/photos/markbroadhead/) has made a good case for tunnels at his aptly named Flickr gallery, where he has curated some of the more interesting tunnel images from other users.
