The Future Tense is the curator and a founding partner of the MTV RE:DEFINE benefit exhibition and auction.
Debuting in Dallas in November 2011 to mark the 30th anniversary of HIV/AIDS, the event was established with the MTV Staying Alive Foundation and The Goss-Michael Foundation, raising almost $800,000 in its first year.
RE:DEFINE differentiates itself from other benefit art events by taking a curated approach more akin to a group exhibition, and features a variety of public and educational aspects including a free exhibition, curator and artist talks and an annual public installation commission.
Artists participating in the event have included Damien Hirst, Tracey Emin, Shepard Fairey, Michael Craig-Martin, Gérard Rancinan, Ralf Kaspers, Ryan McGinness, Katrin Fridriks, Gavin Turk, Tomokazu Matsuyama and Faile.
RE:DEFINE culminates in a VIP gala reception, which features numerous exciting live elements including an auction by Simon de Pury, music from an internationally renowned band and for 2012, a live painting performance by British artist, Dave White.
Since launching in 2011, RE:DEFINE has featured in over 150 different articles across broadcast, print and online, and spanning fine art, lifestyle, luxury and mainstream press outlets.
